The greatest benefit about using a zoom lens is that you can usually get really close to animals and people even if they are really far. In this case this deer was hiding behind a tree and at first I down&#8217;t even see her. I was just browsing around with my long lens when all of a sudden there she was, standing by a tree watching me the entire time. If it weren&#8217;t so cute it would be creepy. what if I was picking my nose or doing something personal? I think about all the times I relieved myself in the woods and how some animal was probably watching me.
