Sometimes before I even take the first picture I sit in awe and ponder how beautiful and peaceful our wilderness is. I think this is what has drawn me and many other photographers into the world of landscape photography. Of course there are times when you just have to start clicking away because the light or the scene is quickly vanishing in front of your eyes. This day in particular was one of those days when taking it slow was called for.

This beautiful shot was taken by my lovely wife and companion of 42 years. She rarely comes with me on a shoot and even when she does she rarely gets out of the vehicle. I set the shot for her on my trusty tripod and gave her the signal that I was beginning to contemplate, then she took the shot.
